My Day in Durham NC
Durham, North Carolina is one of the most beautiful cities in America. I was so happy to visit Durham because it is full of historical sites to visit.
During my visit I was able to visit Historic Stagville, one of the largest plantations located in the South. My visit gave me the opportunity to see first hand living quarters of the plantation owners, as well as the living quarters of the slave population that lived at the plantation in the 19th century. I learned of several events that occur annually. The one I plan to return for is the “Christmas at the Big House, Christmas at the Quarters” event.
In making this a true historical visit to the city of Durham, I also visited the Bennett Place State Historic Site. I enjoyed seeing the restored structures that give the visitor a true sense of what the site may have been like when General Joseph E. Johnston surrendered the Southern armies to General William T. Sherman.
Finally, my visit to Durham would not have been complete without a visit to American Tobacco, the Lucky Strike cigarette factory. This transformed factory has been transformed into a fantastic entertainment district where I spent hours enjoying this very interesting hot spot.
Overall, Durham is a very interesting city that I plan to visit again.
